Numerus Clausus (NC)
Latin for "limited number". It means that only a limited number of places are available on a course and thus that only a limited number of applicants will be admitted for a particular subject. Generally, Numerus Clausus is considered to be the average entrance qualification grade that was enough to gain admission for a particular subject in the last round of applications. There are subjects that are classed as NC nationally and subjects classed as NC in particular institutions (local NC).
