Visa
Issued by a country's overseas agencies and entitling the holder to enter that country. A visa must be applied for for a specific purpose and can only be used for that purpose (e.g. tourist visa, student visa, visa for business travel).
Visiting lecturer
External lecturer, not part of the full-time teaching staff.
Viva voce
Oral examination in front of the committee that awards doctorates in an institution. Unlike a disputation, it is not restricted to the subject of the student's thesis but can assess other topics from the subject.
